At Hendrick and Sons, we have over 70 combined years of professional roadway design experience, and close to 100 years of land surveying experience. This page is here to let you know a little more about our business and our employees who have made this business a success.
R. Alan Hendrick, P.E., P.L.S.
Mr. Hendrick has over 20 years experience in design of transportation related facilities including city streets, state highways and airports, as well as designs of numerous bridges, both rural and urban, throughout the state of Oklahoma. He is President of Robert B. Hendrick & Sons Co., Inc. and Engineer-In-Charge of the firm's Norman office established in 1986.
Since returning to the firm in 1986, Alan has been involved in the preparation and submission of plans for urban and rural roadway projects. These have included many intersection improvements and signalizations in Norman, Lawton, Durant and Duncan.
Alan's master of science specialty was in structural engineering, and before joining the firm he was heavily involved in the design of several major bridge structures in Oklahoma City including seven bridges on the Central Expressway, the 63rd Street bridge over the west bypass, and the two Memorial Road bridges over the Lake Hefner Parkway.
Alan has been a resident of Norman for all but three years since the fall of 1975 and is active in Norman community affairs. He has been president of the Norman Rotary Club, serves on the board of the Norman Chamber of Commerce, and chairs the Chamber's Transportation Committee.
Robert B. Hendrick, P.E., P.L.S.
Mr. Hendrick is a registered professional engineer and land surveyor with over 45 years experience in project design and construction of all types of highway and city street facilities. He is past president and founder of the firm Robert B. Hendrick & Sons Co., Inc., and serves as design consultant for transportation projects in which the firm is involved.
Mr. Hendrick has worked on hundreds of miles of roadway projects in Oklahoma, including surveys, design, and supervision of construction for the Will Rogers, Turner, and H.E. Bailey Turnpikes, and 18 miles of Interstate 40 in western Oklahoma. He originally worked for the Oklahoma Highway Department and then entered into private practice some 40 years ago.
Prior to establishing the firm of Robert B. Hendrick & Sons Co., Inc. in 1975, he worked in partnership with his brothers, first in the firm of Wyatt B. Hendrick & Associates and then with Hendrick & Hendrick Engineers.
Steven Bell
Mr. Bell graduated with a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 2006 from the University of Oklahoma with a specialty in water resources. An Engineering Intern, Steve first worked for Hendrick & Sons in May, 2003 while he was still an undergraduate. Steve helps in the design of roadway projects, urban drainage analysis, right-of-way, and material quantities calculations.
Ernie Morales
Mr. Morales has worked with Robert B. Hendrick on thousands of surveys. Ernie has over 45 years of surveying experience since the late 1950's and most of that experience has come while working with Robert B. Hendrick. Ernie's surveying data has resulted in thousands of mortgage inspection certificates in Comanche County and surrounding areas.
Michael Van Zandt
Mr. Van Zandt has worked for Hendrick & Sons since April, 2006. Michael is progressing towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. His vast AutoCAD knowledge and experience in the home building industry have helped the company thrive.
For fifty years, Hendrick & Sons has always been a family affair. Hendrick and Hendrick Engineers was founded fifty years ago in 1957. Then in 1975, Robert B. Hendrick, a 1950 graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, founded Robert B. Hendrick and Sons and took over Hendrick and Hendrick Engineers. In the 50 years since the founding of Hendrick and Hendrick Engineers, four of Robert B. Hendrick's sons followed his lead in obtaining Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. They then proceeded on to Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering. In addition to private engineering consulting, two sons have taught eleven courses in the School of Civil Engineering at the University of Oklahoma, and research findings have been published in the American Institute of Steel Construction Engineering Journal.
Alan Hendrick has since taken over for his father as president of the firm, and he has continued his father's legacy of quality.
