Project Description
This project involved extending the improvements on Flower Mound Road in east Lawton two miles north of Gore Boulevard to Rogers Lane similar to the improvements south from Lee Boulevard to Gore Boulevard.  The cost of construction for the two-mile project was in excess of $6.1 million.

Continued growth and traffic volumes in east Lawton prompted the City of Lawton to make improvements to this section of Flower Mound Road to accommodate the anticipated increase in traffic in coming years.  A five-lane section with a continuous center left turn lane was provided for the full length of the project.  An underground storm sewer pipe network with grated inlets at periodic locations now carry storm water, replacing the open roadside ditches previously in place.  There were four FEMA floodway crossings within the two-mile corridor, including three which required removal of headwalls and wings for extension of existing drainage structures to accommodate the roadway widening.

As with the
south mile on Flower Mound Road from Lee Boulevard to Gore Boulevard, an 8'-wide sidewalk / bike path was constructed for the full length of the project on the east side of the roadway.  A separate set of water and sewer relocation plans were prepared to account for utility relocation prior to the roadway construction commencing.
