Project Description
This project will upgrade the existing railroad crossing at Duffy Street by the installation of railroad crossing signals with gate arms, as well as by the addition of a concrete crossing pad and an improved horizontal and vertical alignment of the approaching street sections.

Another important feature of this project will be the extension of Legacy Trail, the 10-foot-wide concrete bike path seen at the bottom of the above picture running alongside the railroad tracks.  The City of Norman has made the expansion of the Legacy Trail bike trail a priority.  Legacy Trail will cross Duffy Street, continue running west along Duffy Street on the south side (top of picture) of the street, and join Jenkins Avenue, where it will eventually be expanded to reach the University of Oklahoma campus.

This project will also include the expansion of an existing 8'x3' box culvert to clear the proposed roadway.  Drainage inlets will be installed on Duffy Street on the west side of the tracks towards Monnett Avenue.  While not a major utility corridor, caution will still be necessary to avoid accidental damage caused to existing waterlines.

This project is being coordinated with BNSF railroad.
